Day 4 ~ Getting to know our new Drunken Stampers designated designers

Welcome to the eve before the Drunken Stampers start up a whole net set of challenges for the new term! If you need a little nudge to get crafting again, tomorrow’s challenge will definitely get you started! πŸ™‚

But we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves! It’s the last day of getting to know the new additions to the designated designers, if you’ve missed the past 3 days of introductions please check them out!

Click here, if you’ve missed Day 1 featuring Jacki & Wendy.
Click here, if you’ve missed Day 2 featuring Lindsey & Lee.
Click here, if you’ve missed Day 3 featuring Chelle & Karen

Now these next two ladies are definitely not strangers to the Drunken Stampers crew! So if you’re a long time fan, you’ll recognize them and get all giddy, excited just like we did!!!

Diane was a guest designer last term and we all had so much fun that we offered her a key to the lounge and would you believe it? She actually took it!! Haha! You can’t leave now Diane!! Though she’s made herself pretty cozy in the lounge and dove right in soooo maybe the joke is on us???

What is your drink of choice when stamping?

I should say water but Diet Pepsi is my favorite…I am trying to cut down on it but I just cannot stop!

What or who inspires you creatively?

I love to check out blogs by lots of card makers and with lots of different styles. I will gravitate towards blogs with a focus on coloring with copics for a while, then cards made with the Cricut, then maybe fancy folds- I love that so many people share their cards and ideas so freely. I like sketches as a starting point and of course challenges force me to think outside my creative box. Sometimes the stamp or a piece of paper will inspire me.

How would you describe your style?

Very simple…I do love the look of lots of layers and ribbons and frills- I just cannot get it to look right! I tend to have a clear focal point, the star of the show- like a colored image- and then just have the rest of the card be the supporting cast.

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

ATG, Copics, Memento ink, paper trimmer, fun stamps! I love my Cricut too!

What is your fave project?

DSFaveProject_Diane
DSFaveProject2_Diane

I really like this scrapbook layout – I am thrilled with the happy colors and the simplicity of the pages and how the pictures are the main focus –but mostly I just stinkin love those 4 girls! I smile every time I look at these pages and remember the great times we have had throughout their lives! I love when they go through my albums and and the pages prompt such good memories!

Our last designer featured has been a Drunken Stamper once before. Now, she may either come after me with a stick or grab a couple of cold ones and we sit down for a long chat, for posting this but hey…it was the early days for all of us πŸ˜‰ check out challenge 7, where she joined Drunken Stampers for the first time! I just about peed myself from laughing when I saw that card! It’s that crazy, off beat sense of humour which makes her the perfect Drunken Stamper! And we’re elated to have her with us again!

Linda ~ Tropical Hooters Team

Linda

Linda’s Blog

http://studiol3.blogspot.com/

What is your drink of choice when stamping?

A triple venti caramel macchiato from Starbucks. Oh, how I love them! And, if a little Godiva Chocolate Liqueur should happen to accidentally fall into the cup, who am I to argue? Of course, that’s never happened…

What or who inspires you creatively?

I think every mixed media crafter I’ve met has inspired me in some way. The incredible variety of techniques, the brilliant ideas, the “Why-didn’t-I-think-of-that??” experience. The more I read, the more classes I take, the more blogs I visit– I’m just blown away by the cool stuff people come up with.

How would you describe your style?

Tough question! Until I come up with a more definitive answer, let’s go with “Grunge meets med-century-modern meets Tim Burton, with an occasional journey to Cute City thrown in.”

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

1. Distress Ink… okay, let’s just lump ALL the Distress products– ink, paint, stains, stickles, you name it– into one neat category lest they consume this entire question.

2. Ranger Archival Ink. This stuff is magic, and I don’t think it gets enough love. Fantastic, permanent, GORGEOUS colors– it rocks!

3. Wendy Vecchi’s Embossing Paste. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s awesome for creating texture, and it’s completely redefined how I use stencils.

4. Claudine Hellmuth’s Sticky-Back Canvas. One of the most versatile surfaces in the world.

5. It’s not a stamping product per se, but my obsession for the last year has been photography, so I have to include my Olympus E-M5. I’m always looking for ways to mash up my shutterbug-itis with my love of mixed media.

And what is your fave project?

DSFave Project_L3

I have a few, but right now my favorite is a Thanksgiving place card project I made using photos of my family combined with hand-sketched details, Tim Holtz papers, dies and embossing folders, and a whole lot of attitude. It made my family laugh, and that was downright awesome.

Thank you ladies!! Now if you haven’t visited Diane’s and/or Linda’s blog…be sure to check out their work. Then come back tomorrow to see our new challenge and the inspiration from Team Yellow Canary!! Then…come play!! πŸ˜€

Thanks for joining us this week!

Day 3 ~ Getting to know our new Drunken Stampers designated designers

Welcome to Day 3 of our wandering around the lounge visiting with the newest members of the Drunken Stampers Designated Designers.

Wahoo!! Next up we have Chelle taking the hot seat answering our infamous Drunken Stampers tell all questions! πŸ˜‰ Take it away Chelle!

Chelle ~ Tropical Hooters Team

Chelle’s Blog

http://www.maybecreative.blogspot.com/

What is your drink of choice when stamping?

I usually just drink water when I am being creative…but alcohol is usually Malibu rum with rootbeer

What or who inspires you creatively?

A crafter that goes by the name “Pinky”, it all depends on my mood at the time.

How would you describe your style?

Again that depends on my mood, sometimes I am a very clean and simple card maker, sometimes I just get messy and sometimes use bright bold colours.

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

black ink, heat gun, stamps, you know this is really difficult I am having a hard time coming up with 5, baby wipes, good white paper

And what is your fave project?

DSFave_Chelle

Currently, as when I was answering this question, is a art journal page. I have just gotten into art journalling and love it. Most of my pages were done following instructions or looking at another page. This one just seemed to flow. I really liked the flower on the side of the page. I always had a stamped(or digital) image (at least for now).

Our next designer is not a stranger to Drunken Stampers. She was awarded our illustrious “Life of the Party Award” for our Edward Scissorhands Challenge! She is part of an elite group that have not only been bestowed this award but is now also a Designated Designer. She and Jessi are the only two who have achieved this. They have their own special place in the lounge! Welcome Karen from Karen’s Stamping & Crafting Creations!

Karen ~ Tropical Hooters Team

DS_Karen

Karen’s Blog

http://paleopal623.blogspot.com/

What is your drink of choice when stamping?

My drink of choice when stamping is either water or ice tea. When I really need some inspiration, I have a margarita or two!

What or who inspires you creatively?

I find inspiration through a variety of blogs, Pinterest, Tim Holtz ideas, and the Stampington & Company Magazines-Stampers Sampler and Take Ten.

How would you describe your style?

I guess it could be called eclectic…I use a variety of styles depending on my mood and stamps I have chosen. Making cards using some type of distressing on them is what you’ll usually see..

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

Scotch ATG -1/4 inch adhesive
Tim Holtz Distress Inks
Tonic Studios Guillotine Paper Trimmer
Scor-Tape
Inkadinkoo Stamp-a-ma-jig Stamp Positioner

And what is your fave project?

DSFave_Karen

Summer is upon us in Wisconsin with heat, humidity, and thunderstorms. When it is hot and humid one of the best places to be is on the water, relaxing in boat.
I used my Ranger Ink Blending Tool to color the watercolor paper with Stormy Sky and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink. I tried to make a mist-like feel where the water met the horizon. Then I covered the water in Clear Rock Candy Stickles (bottle) using the brush in the cover. It was so easy to spread! I love the subtle glittery effect, but the picture doesn’t do it justice. I shot the close up photo from a different angle and the color is distorted, but you can see the Rock Candy Stickles.

After looking at the {Pin}spirational picture I knew which stamp to use. The stamp of the woman in a boat is from Stampin’ Up. I stamped it in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I colored the Stampin’ Up Summer by the Sea woman stamp (retired) with Copic Markers

Thank again for joining us today! Please visit Chelle’s and Karen’s blogs to check out their fabulous work then perhaps leave them a welcome comment on their blogs! We’ll see you tomorrow with our final two “new” Drunken Stampers! πŸ˜€

Day 2 ~ Getting to know our new Drunken Stampers designated designers

We’re on to day 2 in getting to know our newest Drunken Stampers designated designers!
If you’ve missed Day 1, please click here.
What’s great is that inspiration is everywhere and we encourage ALL paper crafters to come play with us.
Our next two designers showcase two totally different styles, it’s just cool to see how they interpret the same challenges in their own way. We hope that they inspire and challenge you to try something a little different or even get you out of your comfort zone!!! πŸ˜‰

We had a chance to catch Lindsey as she was getting familiar with the facilities of the lounge. Poured a couple of beverages and had a great chat!

Cardstock, stamps, inks, embossing powder, my X-acto knife

And what is your fave project?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
So… I’m not sure I have a *favourite* project, but here’s one that I’d say captures my usual style… clean and simple, bright colours, and just a bit of fun.

We caught Lee hanging out in the mixed media corner of the lounge. We’re ecstatic to have more mixed media peeps join us. Watch out there will be paint spraying everywhere! πŸ˜€ Before Lee could get all inky in the lounge we had a chance to ask our infamous tell all Drunken Stampers questions!

Lee ~ Tropical Hooters Team

DS_Lee

Lee’s Blog

http://violentkittie.blogspot.com/

What is your drink of choice when stamping?

I stick with water while working, but I like to have a beer, a glass of red wine, or a vodka lemonade as I clean up. It’s makes the cleaning up bit of crafting more enjoyable!

What or who inspires you creatively?

Everything. Quotes, TV, Pinterest, Facebook, books, challenge sites all inspire me. I feel like I am on visual overload and I must make things to get them out of my head!

How would you describe your style?

I think I’m on the artsy/grunge/messy side. I am not a clean crafter.

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

My must haves are Stazon ink, ATG, mists/sprays, glass cutting board and my little Fiskars finger blade.

And what is your fave project?

DSFave_Lee
My current favorite project, “Imagination,” is one with my son blowing a hot air balloon. I stamped the cardstock with metallic distress paints for the background. This was one was fun to put together!

Thanks for dropping in today! Please check out Lindsey’s and Lee’s blog to see more of their work and we’ll see you tomorrow with a couple more our new Drunken Stamper’s Designated Designers!

Day 1 ~ Getting to know our new Drunken Stampers designated designers

Welcome! This week we are super excited! Tuesday to Friday, we’ll be featuring our newest Drunken Stamper’s Designated Designers to get to know them just a little better! And on Saturday, we’ll be diving right in to our first challenge of the new term!

Now for those of you who have been long time Drunken Stampers fans, you may wonder about the crazy team names we come up with! Every new term, the teams collaboratively come up with a unique team name…and because we’re the Drunken Stampers, they’re drink names πŸ˜‰

So this time round, instead of drawing names out of a hat…we’re featuring our newest Drunken Stampers in chronological order of who responded to our DT call!

Jackie ~ Yellow Canaries Team

Jacki’s Blog

How would you describe your style?

Oh I love to do dark gothic style cards but I also love doing cute girly cards and if I can combine the two even better but my style generally depends on who the card is for

DS_Wendy

Wendy’s Blog

http://lilymaecreations.blogspot.co.uk/

What is your drink of choice when stamping?

A nice chilled Diet Coke, occasionally mixed with Whisky!

What or who inspires you creatively?

I love chintz and florals, so designers like William Morris, Cath Kidston and Laura Ashley inspre me.
From the crafting world, I love Sue Wilson and her use of tone on tone colours.

How would you describe your style?

As before, chintz is FAB! So I tend to go quite classic, but I do like the challenge of using brighter
colours as I find them harder to work with.

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

Complete set of Adirondack inks (hope you don’t count that as 48!)
Crafters Companion Rock-a-Blocks, you get a really clean image with no echo.
Cosmic Shimmer embossing powders, best I’ve found for the tonal look i love.
Card, well what else would I stamp on!
And finally my Ink Dusters, newly bought and totally loving them.

And what is your fave project?

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Little Girl, 3 times.
Stamped the same image three times, firstly classic black on white, them white on black

Day 4 ~ Up close and personal with a couple Drunken Stampers Designated Designers

*** If you’re looking for our current challenge #115 – Miss Congeniality, please click here ***

Welcome to our last segment of getting to know our new Drunken Stampers Designated Designers! Our first designer today was one of the last ones to arrive in the lounge and before she could put her bags down, she was more than willing to dive right in!

Lynne ~ Bahama Mamas Team

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Lynne’s Blog

http://www.scrapbooklynne.blogspot.ca/

What is your drink of choice when stamping?

Before 10:00am – COFFEE;
Between 10:00am and 5:00pm – WATER;
But anytime AFTER 5:00pm – RED WINE (grin) There have to be SOME perks to being retired!

What or who inspires you creatively?

Sometimes I think my brain is just one big tangled ball of creative wires connected to many, many CREATIVITY lights and I never know what’s going to LIGHT ME UP! Because EVERYTHING inspires me, it could be something I see – photos, layouts or even colors; something I hear someone say or even lyrics to a song; something I’m eating (I’m ALWAYS eating..grin) or even something tactile – like bare feet in the grass or my grandson’s cheek. Sometimes I have so many ideas pouring into my brain at once that I have to talk myself down! (grin) So if you ever run into a short, slightly disheveled, grandmotherly type person in your local craft store who is talking to AND answering herself Give her a HUG… it’s probably me!
But on a more serious note….

How would you describe your style?

ECLECTIC! Everything I do seems so different from the last thing that I did that I don’t think that I HAVE a discernable style.Β  But if I had to pick a common theme in my creations it would be that you can usually find bright colors, simple designs and lots of sparkle.Β  I am always trying to show the world how I SEE something and I’m always trying to capture a moment or a feeling and then pass it along to you so you can experience the joy and humour that I see in everyday things EVERY DAY! And also, I really like to “switch it up” and use ordinary, common supplies in new and different ways. My girlfriends call me the “IDEA GIRL” and if I have no boundaries you never know what I just might create! (grin)

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

in Fifth Place: Tsuniko Liquid Chalk ink in Chocolate Brown
in Fourth Place: Foam Pop Dots
in Third Place: Close to My Heart Liquid Glass
in SECOND Place: My Copic Markers
and my #1 Cannot live without:Β  Rangers STICKLES! (Glitter Glue for Adults!)

And what is your fave project?

DSFave_Lynne

You have NO IDEA how HARD it was for me to pick just ONE favorite project because all my stuff is so very different each from the other and I love them ALL for different reasons (it kinda sounds like I am talking about my CHILDREN!) But since I HAD to pick ONE I chose this card that I made at Christmas using Susan K. Weckesser’s “Homegrown Love” stamp set (which I ADORE!) because it has a little bit of all the things I like to use all on one card. I really do love EVERYTHING about this card; the brightly colored stamped images colored with my Copic markers and the simple basic layout, lots of fussy cutting and EVERYTHING popped to give the scene dimension, and just enough sparkle to make the scene interesting. The faux hand stitching and roughened paper edges give the card a slightly rustic but still homey feel, and every time I look at this card I can feel the sun on my face through the frosty window as I look out onto a cold, crisp, sunny winter’s day scene.

Christine aka Chris ~ Midnight Margaritas Team

DS_Chris_bw

I think the moment this next designer arrived in the lounge she’s been behind the bar serving up a storm. In between juggling bottles, telling jokes and making a card or two, I caught up with her and asked those “Inquiry Minds wanna know” questions!

Chris’ Blog

http://chrispyscreations.blogspot.com/

What is your drink of choice when stamping?

That depends on what time of day it is when I’m stamping. Before 5 pm, it’s Diet Pepsi. After 5 pm, it’s a glass of wine!

What or who inspires you creatively?

I find inspiration everywhere! In magazines, TV Commercials, Facebook, sketch and color challenge blogs, looking out my window, walking my dog. All you have to do is open your eyes and BAM! There it is!

How would you describe your style?

I’m not sure I have a style yet, but if hard pressed, I’d say I’m more of a clean and simple card maker. (But don’t be surprised if occasionally I pile on the embellies! I do love my bling!)

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

Paper – both card stock and patterned, my Grand Calibur, rhinestones, bakers twine, and my markers!

And what is your fave project?

DSFave_Chris

Currently it is this heartbeat card I made. It is so CAS and graphic! I adore these stamps and couldn’t wait to ink them up!

Thank again for joining us on our getting to know YOUR new Drunken Stampers Designers! (stay tuned…there just may be a…let’s find out more about our seasoned Drunken Stampers Designers!) What is your drink of choice when stamping?

Jack and Coke.

What or who inspires you creatively?

Pin ups and motorcycles.

How would you describe your style?

Vintage and grunge.

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

Ink, stamps, my copic sketch markers, a nice quality paper and a patterned scrapbooking paper.

And what is your fave project?

DSFave_Rachael

I created this project for a Design Team Sketch Challenge. I love it for a number of reasons: I love the color palette, the images used, the sketch and the texture I was able to create on the wings with my copic markers. (It was the first time I got to use my Copic techniques after taking my certification!) I also adore the harlequin patterned paper. I love anything vintage or rockabilly and I this card epitomizes the style and feeling that I hope to evoke with my handmade cards.

Now this next designer was voted Drunken Stampers Life of the Party for Challenge #103 . It’s great to have a challenge winner take residence in the lounge and create with us! Heeeeeere’s Jessi!

Jessi ~ Midnight Margaritas Team

DS_Jessi_bw

Jessi’s Blog

http://onecraftymama-onecraftymama.blogspot.ca/

What is your drink of choice when stamping?

Depends on the time of day! If it’s before noon, then definitely coffee. Lots of it. If it’s after 5 (and it’s after 5 somewhere…) then Coke Zero – usually with a squeeze of lime and a glug of rum.

What or who inspires you creatively?

Anything & everything! I’m often inspired by fellow bloggers, and love to play along in challenges. I read a lot, so I also tend to draw inspiration from the words themselves or even the book jackets.

How would you describe your style?

Eclectic! I love my embellishments (ahem, buttons!) and patterned paper, but I’m also beginning to feel comfortable creating clean and simple designs.

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

Gah! Five? Gives me the shivers…I do kind of love my stuff!
-Distress inks
-white cardstock
-adhesive (if I could only pick one, I’d go with Scor-Tape. Or Zip Dry. Please don’t make me pick!)
-buttons
-small pointed scissors

Seriously, that question took me about 10 minutes. *shudder*

And what is your fave project?

DSFave_Jessi

It’s hard to pick a favourite, but the one I’ve chosen has a whole bunch of my favourite things – buttons, crochet, and even a fart joke.

Thank again for joining us today! Please visit Rachael’s and Jessi’s blogs to check out more of their fabulous work. Be sure to drop by tomorrow for Day 4!

Day 2 ~ Up close and personal with a couple Drunken Stampers Designated Designers

*** If you’re looking for our current challenge #115 – Miss Congeniality, please click here ***

Happy Monday!! Welcome back with another segment of Up Close and Personal with our new Designated Designers!

First up today, we have Jen from The Sparkle Within

Jen ~ Bahama Mamas Team

DS_Jen_bw

Jen’s Blog

http://sparklewithin.blogspot.com/

What is your drink of choice when stamping?

Seriously, people? No drinks near the cards! It took me two times to almost wreck a project with a spilled diet Coke before I banned drinks from my office. Now, outside of the crafting zone I enjoy my diet Coke, but I’m trying to cut back. Wish me luck on that.

What or who inspires you creatively?

Blogs and Pinterest. I have so many bloggers I admire that I won’t name them; I just love seeing how people can interpret the same products in very different ways.

How would you describe your style?

Good question. I would go for “classic” tending toward CAS.

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

My Tonic guillotine, my ATG, a bone folder, Gina K cardstock, and my dimensional tape. Oh, and all the pretty paper in the world. πŸ™‚

And what is your fave project?

DSFave_Jen

My lightbulb card, probably. I’ve gotten more kudos on that card than probably any other I’ve made. Someone pointed out to me recently that a local medical complex also uses the slogan “don’t just live, shine”. It’s coincidental but cool. πŸ™‚

We’re so glad we saved a couple of spots in the lounge as we had Barb from Handmade with ❀ joining us a little later but she’s made herself right at home! πŸ™‚

Barb M ~ Midnight Margaritas Team

DS_Barb M _bw

Barb’s Blog

http://kinsalecreations.blogspot.ca/

What is your drink of choice when stamping?

Diet Pepsi

What or who inspires you creatively?

Usually I’m inspired by the very person I’m creating a card for. Occasionally, a random logo, photo or story will inspire me too.

How would you describe your style?

CAS with a lean towards cute. Every now and then I’ll hammer out a shabby or elegant design, but I have to work at it, those design styles don’t come easily to me.

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

-inks (Tsukineko’s Memento, VersaFine, VersaMark & the new Hero Arts inks – LOVE!)
-cardstock (Bazzill CardShoppe & Hero Arts layering papers)
-adhesive (ATG & SU dimensionals)
-dies (my Cuttlebug sees a LOT of use. My die collection is ginormous.)
-detail scissors

And what is your fave project?

DSFave_BarbM

I have lots of faves, but this one is a favorite because it’s so cool! Now I just have to find the right guy to give it to! πŸ˜‰

Thank again for joining us today! Please visit Jen’s and Barb’s blogs to explore more of their work. Come join us tomorrow as we announce our Life of the Party winner for Challenge #114 ~ Finding Nemo. We’ll be back with more crafty interviews on Wednesday.
