Meet our Guest Designer for June

DS_Guest Designer Badge

Introducing Cat of Cat Scrap Fever as our Guest Designer for the month of June! YaY!!! Welcome Cat!!

Just check out this wonderful blingy card Cat put together for yesterday’s challenge (#130 Breakfast at Tiffany’s).

DS130_Cat

Isn’t it just simply fabulous???! Now let’s get to know the crafter behind the card… here’s Cat!

DS_Cat

1. What’s your favourite drink when crafting?

Nothing! I’m such a klutz that I can’t trust myself to have any liquid of any sort around – not even liquid glue! If I occasionally do have a drink around, its usually a bottle of water. And it has to be in a bottle so I can put the cap on in case I knock it over.

2. What’s your favourite colour to craft with?

For some reason I use a lot of pink. Which is kind of odd because I’m not a real girly kind of girl. But I like to create lots of pretty, flowery, ruffle-y kinds of things – you know pink stuff.

3. What’s the #1 tool you cannot live without?

I cannot make anything without my ATG. It really is the only tool that I use on almost every single paper craft project I do.

4. Glue: Liquid or tape?

Duh! Did you read the answer to question #1. Smile Seriously, I am a klutz so it has to be tape (hence the need for my ATG).

5. Your fave project

My favourite project in the last while is the scrapbook layout I made of my little dog, Mitzy. Its funny that I’ve become a dog person with the nickname Cat, but this little dog has become our baby. I really like the layout because, first, it doesn’t use pink and uses my favourite colour blue (or shades of it). And second, I like it because it has so much dimension. I’ve been trying to step up my scrapbook pages and I like where this one ended up. And lastly, I like that I was able to take a digital scrapbook layout I did and make it into a paper layout. Next, I’m going to work on incorporating stamps on my scrapbook pages. Might as well, I have a whole room full of them. 🙂

1. What’s your favourite drink when crafting?

Diet Pepsi is my long term love but I have recently discovered Choffy –a hot chocolate drink! A great alternative when I want something hot!

2. What’s your favourite colour to craft with?

I really like pink, gray and black together..but I go through phases and try different combinations…. Yellow and blue was a recent trend for me.

3. What’s the #1 tool you cannot live without?

My Fiskars trimmer is always by my side and I am happy with my Cricut but my Copics are my absolute favorite tools. I was a diehard colored pencil user for years but a friend introduced me to Copics about 3.5 years ago and I was an immediate convert! I love to color!

4. Glue: Liquid or tape?

ATG all the way… but I do keep some Tombow mono and Quickie glue nearby.

5. Your fave project

My favorite project is probably an album I put together for my nephew with all of the acceptance letters from all the colleges who pursued him; he was a great scholar/athlete and many places were interested in him! Artistically beautiful- not really- but it was thrilling for me to put it together! He is now playing Minor League Baseball and told me at Christmas that he looks at it every now and then-so that makes it special for me!

I do not have that album- so I chose my favorite scrapbook layout- I am thrilled with the happy colors and the simplicity of the pages –but mostly I just stinkin love those 4 girls!

I love them all perhaps except the blue….I prefer red and black

3. What’s the #1 tool you cannot live without?

My fave project is my first shabby project….I love it first because of my grands parents

DSFave2_Ann

I inked my stamp in gold, and repeat ce pattern twice
The second, I cut out the heart that I have raised on the first
I used 2 others stamps, one “souvenir de famille” ( in gold) and the other a text (in brown)

Getting to know our March Guest Designer

*** If you’re looking for our current challenge #117 – The Sound of Music, please click here ***

DS_Guest Designer Badge

You had a chance to see a little bit of Ro’s work in yesterday’s Challenge, The Sound of Music.

DSDTGuest_Ro If you haven’t already visited her blog, Toodle Noodle Creative be sure to drop by to say hello! We just caught up with her while she was busy crafting away to get to know her a little better.

1. What’s your favourite drink when crafting?

Generally I have a bottle of flavored water because it has a lid and I can avoid making a huge mess. But I’ve been known to craft with a nice glass of wine or an ice cold beer! As long as I set them off to the side!

2. What’s your favourite colour to craft with?

I use a lot of black, white and kraft paper. It’s a good base for a lot of different projects. Pretty much any kind of patterned paper or colors I use will go with one of those three.

3. What’s the #1 tool you cannot live without?

Gosh! It’s awfully difficult to pick just ONE! I am such a gadget queen! Besides the basics (adhesives, cutters and paper), I would have to say the tool I reach the most for is my Martha Stewart Scoring Boards. I have both sizes and use them for almost every project I do.

4. Glue: Liquid or tape?

Oh, definitely tape! I do NOT have the patience to wait for liquid glue to dry. The only time I use it is when I have something too tiny to use the tape on.

5. Your fave project

DSFaveCard_Ro

I have a few things I am particularly proud of. But I have to say my most favorite one is a card I made for a dear friend of mine who was battling cancer (unfortunately, she lost the battle but went out fighting). I would send her a card every few days to let her know I was thinking of her and to give her some encouragement. This particular one just gets me every time.

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit with us Ro! We look forward to seeing more of your work throughout the month!

Drunken Stampers #22 ~ Twilight and a Guest Designer!!!!!

Oh my gosh it was sooo wonderful to see everyone playing with colour and bling! You are all just inspiring!! Love it!! 🙂

We are just THRILLED this week as the challenge is to use the book series Twilight by Stephenie Meyer as your inspiration (goth or vampire inspired is fine too). Peg and I enjoy the series and can’t wait for the movie Eclipse to come out on Wednesday!!!

Now we couldn’t do this challenge without asking a friend to swing by the lounge to give us a hand!! So we have this week, a guest designer….the uber talented Lisa Strahl!!!! YIPEEE!
If you are unfamiliar with her work…she’s been artistic director at Cornish Heritage Farms Stamps, a graduate of Ranger U, a Splitcoast Stampers Dirty Dozen Alumni member…just to name a few…and not to mention a wonderful, kind hearted, fellow Twilight FAN!!
I invite you to check out more of her work over at her blog Petite Palette.
Of course I couldn’t let her stop by without asking our fave Drunken Stamper’s Questions!!

What is your drink of choice when stamping?
Something fizzy or a big yummy coffee. My all time favorite is Starbucks “Chai Latte Soy No Water”

What or who inspires you creatively?

The same people who I first learned to stamp with are still my greatest inspiration. Each for different reasons and in different ways. They know who they are and what beautiful things we make when we create together. On a day to day basis I find inspiration in everything from movies to magazines to fabric. Nothing is safe from my gaze!

How would you describe your style?

Eclectic. I love to stamp in a variety of styles, but if you forced me to choose one, it would be vintage.

What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

Jet Black Archival Ink (Ranger)
Coffee Archival Ink (Ranger)
Pearlescent Chocolate Brilliance Ink (Tsukineko)
Non-Stick Craft Sheet (Ranger)
Heat It Craft Tool (Ranger)

And what is your fave project?

An altered dress that was inspired by the color scheme in my all time favorite paper line – The Scarlett Letter (Basic Grey). I created this project while on the Dirty Dozen Design Team @ Splitcoaststampers.

Here’s Lisa’s Twilight Inspired card:

-inspiration from New Moon @ the infamous birthday party when Bella is defending her old truck to Emmett
-A Muse stamps used, Bella, Vintage Truck, A Muse Papers and computer generated sentiment using the Twilight font
-images colored with Copics

Thanks so much Lisa for sharing and playing along with us!!

Here’s what the rest of the Drunken Stampers came up with!!!
