Irish Dance Dress DSCB #7 & Exciting News!

We loved seeing all of your inchie cards this past week, they were all terrific and inspiring!

The champagne has been chilled and the glasses are ready for our big announcement this week!  Spike and I would like to share our big news with you all and toast our fabulous and talented  2 new design team members!  Welcome to the team Linda and Donna, we are so excited and happy to have you with us for at least the next 3 months and can not wait to see all of your amazing creations here at the Drunken Stampers!  Over the next few weeks we will be getting to know our new designers better so stay tuned for that!

Now onto this weeks inspiration challenge!  For whatever reason Spike found herself 10 hours away from home at an Irish Dancing competition helping out a friend peddle shoes.  What she didn’t realize is how elaborate and gorgeous the competitor’s dresses were.  All the sequins, Celtic knots…they’re all stunning and gorgeous!!  It was a fabulous place of inspiration!  She took lots and lots of photos but could she find one for this challenge?? NOOoooooo! So she found this photo online to inspire us all this week!  :D

Inchies!!! – DSCB #6

We loved seeing all of your glitter and lace cards this past week, they’re all just simply beautiful and sparkly!

Once again I’d like to thank Sparkle for coming by the lounge to hang out and make a card with us last week. You are more than welcome to come by the DS lounge any time again!

It’s Drunken Stampers Challenge #6! For this week’s challenge, use inchies!! Have at least one inchie in your card.

What’s an inchie you ask? It’s a 1 x 1″ square piece of artwork. You can use them in sooo many different ways!
I will tell you though…working on that scale you want to be stampin’ sober, an inch square is really easy to miss!! LOL

I haven’t worked with inchies before and Peg hasn’t either and we invite you too to give it a go with us!!

Here’s Peg’s inchie artwork:

Glitter and Lace ~ DSCB #5

We want to thank everyone who played along with us last weekend, we loved all of your beautiful cards and all the creative ways that you used fabric!

This weeks challenge is to use glitter and lace on your cards! We also have a special treat for you all, a guest designer!  The super talented and always inspiring Sparkle Smith!  She dropped by the lounge to play along and help us out with this weeks challenge.  While she was here, we asked a few questions and want to share her answers with you!

DS: What is your drink of choice when stamping?

Sparkle:  Hot Water – I get cold really easily and it keeps me warm, lol.

DS: What or who inspires you creatively?

Sparkle:  Amy Sheffer – I love how she layers and embellish all of her cards.

DS: How would you describe your style?

Sparkle: Cutesy and adorable

DS: And finally, What are your top 5 stamping must haves that you could not live without?

Sparkle: Copics, Prima Flowers, Kraft cardstock, Stickles and Pop dots.

Thank you Sparkle for dropping by to play with us and answer our questions!  Now on to our cards for this weeks challenge.  :D

Carding with Fabric ~ DSCB #4

You would never believe that Peggy and I were waiting with baited breath to see how/if you dared to tackle last weeks challenge! Boy did you ever step up to the plate! You did us proud!

As we put you through a toughie week, we figured this is a hangover week so the DSCB#4 challenge is fabric and simply that’s it! (Although it would be fantastic to see your originality of use of fabric in your card!) To clarify, ribbon does not count as fabric for this challenge but you still may use ribbon in addition to fabric.

Mardi Gras ~ DSCB #3

Oh my gosh! We are just excited to see you all having a great time with us and the fabulous creations you are making! It’s absolutely fantastic!!

This week’s challenge will put some hair on your chest! LOL
With shrove Tuesday around the corner, what great inspiration for a card other than Mardi Gras!! WAHOOO!! With it’s bold, bright colours and many textures, there’s so much to draw from and it’s a PERFECT Drunken Stampers Challenge fit!! (Unsure about what an inspiration picture challenge is? Click on the Challenges Page for more info!)

For Drunken Stampers Challenge #3 (DSCB3), create a new card using the Mardi Gras picture below for inspiration.

Into the hard stuff??? Well how about a single shot? Then ALSO use 3 different kinds of embellishments from the following only (acetate, beads, brads, buttons, feathers, glitter in any form, Flower Soft, rhinestones, pearls, piercing, flowers, lace, glossy/matte/crackle/sepia Ranger accents, crackle paint, ribbon). (ie. 3 different flowers only count as one embellishment, except for the different Ranger accents)

Or maybe you just want to push your limits further and want a double??? Then instead of using 3 kinds of embellishments use at least 6 from the list above!!

This challenge is entirely up to you! (You can do the inspiration challenge alone or in addition add 3 or 6+ embellishments from the list.)

(FYI, DS trivia…it wasn’t easy to find an interesting Mardi Gras pic that wouldn’t bump the blog into the “age verification required” bracket!! LOL)

For more details about the cards, click on the designer’s name :D

Peggy’s Mardi Gras Inspired Card:

Peg did the double shot!
German Glass Glitter, Glossy Accents, Flowers, Buttons, Pearls, Ribbon & Piercing

Spike’s Mardi Gras Inspired Card:

Spike did the double shot too!!
Distressed Stickles, White Flower, Glossy Accents, Leaf Ribbon, Matte Accents, Piercing

Everyone is welcome to play however you decide to challenge yourself. This week we have something really special! From all the cards that qualify for the double shot challenge, Peggy and I will decide our most favourite card and the winner will receive the fabulous embellishment package below!!! How cool is that?? All entries to be considered for the prize pack must be listed in Mister Linky by the date and time below and also the card may not be combined with other challenges. (just for this challenge as we’re giving goodies away :D ) Here’s the booty of bling!! ($50+ of shiny, sparkly, blingy goodness!!) Spread the joy, shout out and let your friends know!

Happy Stamping!!! Drunken stamping is much more fun with friends!! Come play with us!!

After you have finished your wonderful creations, please share them with us.

Be My Valentine ~ DSCB #2

We want to thank everyone who came out to celebrate and play along with us last weekend, we loved all of your beautiful cards!

This week we are making Valentines for our sweeties, but that seemed a little to plain so we have added a little twist of metal to make it more interesting!  You can use any type of metal you want from charms to tin foil run through your Cuttlebug!  Just have fun with it, that’s all we care about!  :D

Thanks for playing with us this week!

Love,

PS. We accidentally did it again (used the same stamp company) and no, you don’t have to use the Greeting Farm Stamps!

Welcome to Drunken Stampers!!!

This challenge blog has been a year in the making. No there’s nothing special that took us this long to get it off the ground, we just had to do it! It came about while we were having a few beverages around New Years and thought, I wonder how our cards would look if we did a card challenge after drinking? (hence the name)  We could do all sorts of challenges…sketches, materials, colours, themes, whatever we wanted to do!! Upon further thought it would be just great to challenge each other to push our limits but to do it well, we’d have to cut out the drinking! LOL It will also be fun and easy going!

Peg and I are both avid card makers (living 4 hours apart from each other in BC, Canada), card bloggers and card challengers!  We most of all like to challenge each other to see what we come up with and would love it if you played along with us!!

Our challenges will be once a week on Saturday morning, with our first challenge to start on Saturday, January 30, 2010. Be sure to subscribe to the blog or follow us on Twitter so you don’t miss a challenge!

Let your all friends know (email, word of mouth, blog post, Twitter, FB) that something fresh, new and exciting is coming blog land way and come play with us!!

Love,

Spike from http://spikescreativeside.wordpress.com/ and
Peggy from http://cardcrazy.wordpress.com/
